Recently, I noticed I’ve been a member of the New York Road Runners for ten years! Kinda crazy how time flies.
Kinda crazy how doing one sport over and over again never gets boring!
In honor of my tenth year of being a NYRR member here are ten ways my running has changed in the past ten years.
#1) I no longer run in cotton ever. Not even to catch a bus.
#2) When I’m injured I seek help. Old age made me realize I am not invincible.
#3) My favorite race distance was the 10k. It’s currently my least favorite race distance.
#4) I never ran for goal times until 2011.
#5) Pain wasn’t something I embraced, now it’s something I seek. I want my workouts to hurt, I want to test my limits.
#6) I strength train consistently.
#7) I know people at races!
#8) Fear isn’t something I run away from, it’s something I embrace.
#9) I respect the distance of the marathon, heck I respect all distances and train properly for them.
#10) Hot weather running use to be my favorite race day, training day and everyday temperature and now I embrace winter running.
How has your training changed in the past several years?
