Once upon a time running saved me. Perhaps that’s why I cried the day I was accepted into the New York City Marathon via the infamous lottery. It was a tell of redemption and a moment in my life that will remain etched in my mind forever.
The full story is the tale of a girl that only a memoir could do justice. And this is a blog, not a sentimental look at how running gave me hope.
However, this is a blog that loves to celebrate the reason we all do what we love to do in order to live a healthy life. The spirit of doing something that changes your life is palpable. It’s contagious. It’s life changing.
Let’s celebrate by sharing. Tell me what healthy activity changed your life?

Running. I dropped 25ish lbs after college, finally had a healthy habit to call me own. Running definitely saved me. I hope I can say that after Sunday ๐ See you at mile 18!!

This is going to sound awfully weird, but starting zumba classes changed everything for me. It was the first exercise that I LOVED to do. I went 2-3 times a week. The front desk guy at the gym called me “Zumba Girl.” Four months later I showed up to my gym a little late and they were out of Zumba tickets so I hopped on a treadmill and ran. And I didn’t have to stop. I ran for 45 min straight and felt like I owned the world. Turns out that all that zumba was getting me into shape. Eventually it got warmer and I took my running outside and fell in love. This weekend, 9 months after my first jog on the treadmill i’ll run my first 10k. I’m running my first half in the spring. My friends joke that the me 2 years ago wouldn’t know the me now. ๐

Although, running is my thing, I definitely have to credit yoga for changing things for the better. After a yoga session, I feel great, calm, happy and healthy. It makes me want to continue that feeling all day/every day.

I’d have to say running with the c25k program this summer has really changed my life. I love it and I’m preparing to keep running during the cold months. So far I haven’t due to lack of time to go get the righ gear but hopefully I will do that this weekend.
Since it will be lighter out early now I hope to get back to my 530AM runs! Cross your fingers for me! ๐

Running changed my life, too ๐ When I really got into running races, I started eating healthier and cleaner to fuel my body better and feel better. It has made me more confident because I’m able to set my own goals and rely on myself to reach them… or sometimes not reach them, and then learn from those misses. Running has also completely changed and strengthened my relationship with my 19 year old cousin, which I am so, so grateful for ๐

I have done a lot of things over the years but when a guy in the gym asked me about competing in bodybuilding… although I already lifted weights, this was life changing. I learned so much more & weights became my true love!!!!

Running changed me. It was something I could never do, or THOUGHT I could never do, until my friend Amy inspired me to go for it. Being surrounded by fabulous bloggers encouraging me and teaching me from their experience along the way has been a huge help. I’m just getting STARTED but it has changed me and my outlook on fitness and on enjoying just being HEALTHY and CAPABLE OF ANYTHING!!
