If you're like me you've experienced being the only person in a yoga or barre class that doesn't have the flexibility to do a specific exercise or sit in a particular yoga pose. In those moments I often am filled with the urge to shout "I'M A RUNNER! MY LEGS DON'T DO THAT!" And I have actually whispered those words to an instructor a time or two. The source of my inflexibility are my hips. I … [Read more...] about Running Essentials Thursday: An Amazing Hip Opening Stretch (& it’s not pigeon pose)

SIDI {Let NYCM Training Begin!}
Here's the deal, this whole training for the NYCM is going to be no joke. It's been a really really long time since I've done this and it almost feels like I've never done it before. So much has changed since I ran the Chicago Marathon in 2004 and even more has changed since I ran my very first marathon in 1999. I was so engrossed in the soap opera like plot that I read the entire book finishing around 2:00 a.m. I didn't head out the door for my run until 10:30. I promise that won't happen tonight or during training season. I'm often curious as to what people's … [Read more...] about NYCM: My Basic Plan
A Just in Case Race
Today, I ran my 9th New York Road Runner's race of the year the Joe Kleinerman 10k. It was the first super cold run of the year. The temperature was 30 degrees with a windchill of 21. BRRR!! The reason I ran today was two fold. #1) I haven't ran any longer than 5 miles since August. #2) To complete the 9+1 for guaranteed entry into the 2011 New York City Marathon. Now don't go thinking I'm … [Read more...] about A Just in Case Race
