Say it, Do it! {it’s race week again!}

{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}

Some weeks SIDI is a cinch. Other weeks, I it’s a struggle to lace up my running shoes and get out the door. I could point fingers and place blame on certain things, but ultimately I am the one responsible for how I respond to all of those “certain things”.

Determined to get in all twenty-five of the miles I committed to doing for the week, meant doing a 15-miler today. If I thought it was too big of a stretch then I totally would have ditched my mileage goals. Since I ran 13.1 miles last Sunday and have had a pretty solid build-up of longish runs a 15-miler wasn’t a stretch.

The last time I ran 15 miles, was last summer with Betsy and Susan while training for the New York City Marathon. It was my final long training run before calling it quits.

While some other issues reared their ugly heads, I can tell you that with the help of Mike at Finish Line Physical Therapy, the injuries that sidelined me last August didn’t even wink an eye at me today. Can we get a halleluiah? It’s about freaking time!

I have so much to say today, but I’ll stick with the current subject and update you on everything else later this week.

Workout highlight of the week: Today’s 15-miler

Favorite workout moment: toss up between these two: 5 minutes of plank variations after today’s run or teaching spin on Monday

SIDI commitments for the week:

  • Run 26 miles (including the Country Music 1/2 Marathon in Nashvegas)
  • PT exercises every single day
  • Plank a day every single day

I’m keeping it simple and focused this week.

Your turn! Share with me what your workout highlight was from the week and what workouts you’re committed to this week.

Love it! Congrats on injury free running and best of luck in Nashville! You are going to dominate!

This week I am going to stretch and roll every day. I’ll get out for a few runs through the week, a long weekend run and 4 Mile race on Sunday. Bring it!

Good luck and have fun this weekend! You have great preparation for it so I’m sure it will go well.

This week I got all of my SIDI done with an additional 3 miles tacked on (though those were part of a long walk). This week I had 2 highlights. First, I ran way faster than I thought I could at the Race for the Parks 4 miler on Sunday. My goal was a 7:45 pace and I ran a 7:00 minute pace, so I’m feeling motivated to get myself into the 6’s next time! My second highlight was the switch from girly pushups to unmodified. First time in my life I’ve been able to do them with good form.

This week I’m going to up my mileage a little bit to prepare for my 10k coming up. I’m going to run 28 miles, do 300 pushups, 3 ab workouts, and 1 day of vinyasa yoga.

Good luck in Nashville! I think I told you I did that race in ’06. It was so fun!

I actually can’t pick a highlight of this week. The big one is I hit my 10k goal on Sunday! I’m still so excited about that. But I ALSO did a headstand in yoga for the first time on Saturday (and then I did it again yesterday just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, hahaha). I’m pretty excited about both of those things!

This week I don’t really know what I am doing. some 5 milers here and some yoga there. I could push it and make this a 100 mile month but I don’t know that I really care that much. There will be plenty of time for that when half marathon training comes around again.

Congrats on feeling good during your long run! I know you must be absolutely psyched! 🙂

My highlight was FAILING during a workout this week. I push for failure, but rarely feel I REALLY failed like a champ. During my last set of pushups on Wednesday I literally failed. Like collapsed on the floor because my arms could NOT hold me anymore. YAY! (I realize it’s weird to say YAY to failure, but I’m sure you know what I mean!) 🙂

And this week start another round of Chalean Extreme for me. So my SIDI for this week is:
Mon- Burn 1 (CE) + Bum Bum (Brazil Butt Lift)
    Tue- Rest
    Wed-Burn 2 (CE)
Thu- HIIT (CE) + High & Tight (Brazil Butt Lift)
    Fri- Burn 3
    Sat- Rest

Not weird at all! Getting to failure with push-ups is a great!

Good luck in Nashville — you’re going to do great! My workout highlight of the week was the demo class we taught at barre n9ne on Saturday for the grand opening of the second location. Was so much fun demo’ing it to an entirely new crowd who participated for the first time in a barre class and I loved how impressed they were with how hard it is to lift and lower 3 lb weights for 45 million reps. 😉

    Workout plan for the week:
Sunday – 3.5 miles of HILLS!
Monday – barre method; barre long and lean legs
Tuesday – barre method; rundate with Scott (probably 6ish miles)
    Wednesday – b9 fusion
Thursday – teaching barre method; barre long and lean legs
Friday – teaching barre method; rundate with my sis (6ish miles)
Saturday – last long run before the half marathon (10 miles)

Good luck with the Nashville half- I ran the full last year & loved it. The first half is the pretty part, so enjoy! http://www.clickthegoodnews.com/2011/05/23/nashville-country-music-marathon-recap/ It’s a bit more hilly that I was prepare for since I’m from the flatlands of Houston. I had so much fun hanging out in Nashville before/after the race.

That’s awesome! I’ve always said I would never do the full there, knowing what I know about the first half of the course.
