{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}
I can’t tell if I have windburn or sunburn right now. Maybe both?
It was an emotion filled week of running. Feelings evoked on the run:
- like a badass (for running at night when the windchill proved to be less than ideal)
- excited (to hit my goal tempo pace in the freezing cold)
- grateful (to have Ashley to run with again)
- lucky (to have had an amazing snow run, 2nd run with Ashley)
- miserable (on today’s long run for many reasons)
Overall it was a fantastic week of training! I logged my highest mileage since October of last year.
Since I choose running in the snow with a friend over the treadmill on Friday, it means I missed a speed session. I’ve decided that if I have the choice between the two, I’m okay with skipping the speed in lieu of taking it easy outdoors.
Here’s the training plan for the week:
- Monday: Recover, stretch, foam-roll
- Tuesday: Strength + Tempo
- Wednesday: Spin + a few miles at Run Club
- Thursday: Probably a recovery day but might be speed
- Friday: Strength + Speed (if don’t do speed on Thursday)
- Saturday: Long Run
- Sunday: Recovery Run
What feelings did running evoke in you this week?
What workouts are you committed to this week? Let me know in the comment section or if you’re doing your own SIDI it post this week leave me the link so I can check it out!

Fear that things would start to hurt and I would have to stop. And then excitement when things felt ok.
Still being smart and taking it slow.

I ran a PDR this weekend, so there was a lot of pride and gratitude in what my body can do.
And here’s my SIDI!!! Kicking it easy this week. http://fitmamainthecity.blogspot.com/2013/01/weekly-workout-plan-3.html

What a beautiful picture!
Running has made me feel:
grateful – Sometimes I still find it crazy that I can run long distance after not being able to for so long
calm – There’s a lot of stuff going on in my life, and running helps me calm all that.
Jen Correa @ Mom's Gotta Run says
Running has made me feel like myself. Just a Sunday trial run with my team works wonders for my mental health.
Skey says
–Frustrated (I’m limited to swimming and strength training by my sports chiropractor)
–Sad (A great online training buddy passed away from a cycling accident a week ago)
–Eager (To start running again and pick up where I left off)

You know, I’ve been surprised to find that I can be an emotional runner. All sorts of startling feelings seem to surface unexpectedly – triumph, gratitude, joy, etc.
