Coconut Berry Summer Smoothie

Once I realized how dehydrated I was from my run on Sunday, I rehydrated with a smoothie.

This smoothie contained:

  • Zico Water
  • Spinach
  • 2 T of chia seeds
  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Frozen Blueberries
  • Small frozen banana
  • 1 T peanut butter

I drank 1/2 of this post run and felt 90% better. When you become dehydrated how do you re-hydrate?

I weighed myself after my run today – shocking! I had lots of rehydrating to do. I guzzled water…my Zico was expired…boo! Looks like I need to restock because the heat is here to stay for awhile. The crazy thing is that I run with a Camelbak and thought I was doing a pretty good job staying hydrated. Glad you reminded me how important it is!

I tend to just rehydrate with water but I recently tried a vitamin water and felt so good afterwards I may use them when I am feeling particularly dehydrated. I also have a coconut water to try out. Thanks for the help on my post the other day, the one about the workout clothes. We don’t have those detergents in the UK but I will definitely heed your advice about not using softener on drifit! Have a good day!

YUM! What a great way to rehydrate. I’ve been rehydrating with homemade lemonade lately….tasty goodness!

Oooh that looks so good! I’ve recently gotten into coconut water for rehydrating – it’s so good! Other than that, I stick with water and this stuff called Recharge – an “all natural” kind of Gatorade sold at Whole Foods that tastes delicious. ๐Ÿ™‚

Tons and tons of water. I mostly just drink that all day and don’t do the whole sports drinks/coconut water thing. I love smoothies, but when I’m really dehydrated nothing helps like ice cold water.

Honestly I just drink lots and lots of water. Once I start, I can’t put it down until my thirst is quenched

Looks tasty! I use smoothies as well to rehydrate, but usually make mine with fruit, water and amazing grass. I’m also a big fan of smart water.

Hydration is something I have been really working on with my health coach. I guess I did not realize just how important it is. 99% of the time I come back to a Green Monster smoothie for proper recovery and now I carry along with me on the run, my new favorite replenishment drink, Vega Sport Optimizer. It has really made a huge difference in my overall training.

    BUT
to not get dehydrated i drink water all day at work.

I usually have a smoothie after strength training. But a dehydrating run? Coconut water, coconut water, coconut water ๐Ÿ™‚ I am going to start weighing myself and seeing how I’m doing with liquid loss!

The smoothie looks great, I find chia-loaded smoothies are perfect for energy and hydration pre-run and just lots of water after a run for me.
