Progress Report

I’ve officially graduated from running on the Alter G! Last Wednesday I was able to run at 85% of my body weight for the last eight minutes of my 30 minute run.

Naturally, after work I went on a test run in Central Park. I ran/walked around the Great Lawn (800 meters) with great success. That doesn’t mean I’m ready to go full force though. I still feel a bit of soreness in my ankle.

I’m really mentally jonesing for a real run like nothing else, but I also know that I’m not willing to do anything that will sacrifice running in the future. Being smart now, hopefully means I’ll be back to training soon.

My tentative goal for the week is to run every other day adding on five minutes of running each day if my ankle feels good.

Admittedly, I ran Saturday, Sunday and Monday but I’m committed to sticking with this plan for the rest of the week. I’m not sure if I’ll end up running the Chicago Marathon at this point, but hope to make a decision early next week.

Lastly, I don’t really enjoy the kinds of strength training I can do right now but I’m sticking with it. I’m only ten push-ups away from meeting my goal.

How’s your summer training going so far?

You sound like you’re in a really good place and you’re healing which are both excellent!!

I’ve just come off a win at a local triathlon which was a huge goal for me (and I’ve been training like a beast!) so I’m looking forward to a few well deserved days off with my family:-)

Yes, definitely smart to take it easy. You’ll get there eventually. 🙂 My training is going relatively well, maybe not super, but good enough.
