Training Diaries

My personal running adventures. Read below to learn about my training and read past race recaps.

Say it, Do it! {Rock Steady}

{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}   I realize the lyrics to this song, have nothing to do with running or steady paces, but when thinking of what to title this post. This song popped into my head. And to … [Read more...] about Say it, Do it! {Rock Steady}

Telling Myself I Can Do This All By Myself

Visualization is key to my racing success. Seeing the New York City Marathon course in my mind as I virtually ran through the streets of New York, I pictured different scenarios and how I would handle them throughout my eighteen weeks of training. Additionally, I ran the first 20 miles of the race twice and the last ten miles of the race during my last two key runs before the scheduled race. I … [Read more...] about Telling Myself I Can Do This All By Myself

Timed Intervals = A Lesson in Impatience

If you read Monday's post, then you know I threw in a few timed tempo intervals into my long run (thanks, Lora!). Somehow I ended up running 17.5 miles, not … [Read more...] about Timed Intervals = A Lesson in Impatience

Soundtrack of My Workout: Choose Wisely, Make it Count

Words that keep running through my mind as I start new work projects and decide which old ones to let go of are "you can't be good at everything, but you can be great at some things." I'm trying to choose wisely to make sure that what I'm doing really counts. I want to be great at what I'm … [Read more...] about Soundtrack of My Workout: Choose Wisely, Make it Count

Say it, Do it! {placebo effect?}

{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.} This week's workouts were mostly a success. I ended up with an extra spin class on my schedule because sometimes a good sweat is the only thing that can wash the day away. I … [Read more...] about Say it, Do it! {placebo effect?}

Train My Brain

This: Thank you Sparkly Soul for posting this today. There's been a slight change in my marathon programming for the spring. I'm still training. I'm still running a marathon. I've just bought myself three more weeks of training and the longest marathon training program ever by running Run for the Red in PA in May instead of traveling to Eugene in April. My motivation wanes during long runs, but … [Read more...] about Train My Brain
