I think 80% of New Yorkers are hating this heat wave we're having. Sure, I too have complained about it a little, but for the most part I'm thankful for the warmth and the humidity. Why? Because that if I'm smart about hydration and pacing, it will make me a stronger runner. I'm not the best at doing speedwork consistently, but I love a challenging run. I think that's why I ran when it was 100 … [Read more...] about Running in the Heat is Prep Work

Scott Jurek’s Eat and Run Book Release Party
The book Born to Run can be credited for the rise in the barefoot running trend and for sky-rocketing ultra runners such as Scott Jurek to fame. I had heard of Scott prior to reading the book, but knew very little about him. Scott is one of the most accomplished Ultra Marathon runners in the U.S. He holds the American record for the number of miles ran in a twenty-four hour time period (165.7 … [Read more...] about Scott Jurek’s Eat and Run Book Release Party

And if you find yourself in need of a hug, you'll find hundreds. … [Read more...] about Icing on the Cake: Girls on the Run Spring 5k
You Can’t Make This Stuff Up: What Happened at the NYRR Mini 10k
Saturday morning I woke up bright and early made myself a cup of coffee, put on my race gear, and headed outside to meet up with Jess. We jogged two miles to the start of the New York Road Runner's Mini 10k (an all women's race). During our warm-up we discussed our disdain for the 6.2 mile distance and our expectations for the race. When Jess and I arrived in our corral, I was really … [Read more...] about You Can’t Make This Stuff Up: What Happened at the NYRR Mini 10k
