Zesty Orange Juice

While I still stand behind the fact that making juice at home is more economical than buying it at a juice bar, it’s nice to have a neighborhood place to pop in and grab a juice on the go.

After walking past a “coming soon” sign on the door for months, I was ecstatic when Juice Generation finally opened the doors. During last week’s cold I spent more money there than I’d care to admit. My new favorite drink for when I’m not feeling well is the Cold Warrior. It’s a hot drink composed of green tea, the juice of one orange, ginger, echinacea and zinc.

Juice Generation is a great addition to the Upper East Side. The juices are priced reasonably and they offer so much more than just green juice! I’ve tried both the raw taco salad and the veggie chili both were tasty. However, if you’re a big eater like I am,  they may not fill you up, so grab an extra side dish to go with it.

On the sixth day in a row of walking over to Juice Generation, I decided the smarter thing to do was go to Fairway instead to buy my own fruits to juice at home. I came home and made a yummy “orange” juice. Thanks to everyone on Facebook for recommending I add an apple!

Orange Zest

  • Two oranges (cut of peels if you don’t like the slightly bitter taste the make when juiced)
  • One green apple
  • 4 small carrots
  • 1 to 1 1/2 inches of fresh ginger

Run all ingredients through the juicer alternating veggies to mix the flavors. Drink and enjoy!

That”coming soon” sign has been bugging me for months too. Glad it’s finally open. We should try a Soul class and then head there for a juice. Miss Lily’s also opened recently in Soho and Melvin’s Juice Box there is amazing!

Lucky! Love Juice Generation. Closest one I have is in SoHo. Love the orange, ginger combos. Don’t forget about the green juices too!

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about juice lately, and what are some good recipes. I’ll definitely be sharing this one! Anything with carrot and ginger is awesome in my opinion 🙂

Wish I had room in my tiny apartment for a juicer, it would make life so much easier. Definitely will be trying out Juice Generation though, maybe after a CP run! Seems like they also have some downtown too. Could always go for some carrot and ginger 🙂
