If I could sum up the past year of both my running and professional life I would say the thing that’s had the biggest effect on each is a willingness to change.
Change and constantly seeking out new ways to grow feed my constant desire to meet my goals and start climbing towards the next one. This doesn’t always mean I succeed, but it does mean I’m always trying and searching for what needs to change.
Old ways of thinking like old ways of training don’t allow growth.
So, while I’ve been running for most of my life and I’ve been working in the same industry for the length of my career neither of these things are static. In fact they are actually both forever dynamic.
If I hadn’t changed my thinking, there’s no way I would have ran a successful race in San Diego.
If I hadn’t changed my thinking I wouldn’t have created a job and business that I love.
Soundtrack of My Workout: Change
The San Diego Marathon was the first time I’ve ever listened to music while running a race. It’s something I never thought I’d do, but I really enjoyed it.
I also discovered that I enjoy really long songs while running. If the song is eight minutes long, I know when it’s over I’ll have ran close to another mile. Looking at things that way doesn’t make another mile feel so bad!
What changes have you made professionally or in your training recently that have had an impact?

I did speedwork this morning for the very first time and it was great! I did yasso 800’s, shooting for one time, and totally killing it and getting under that time completely. it was so invigorating!
also, i’m excited to listen to your change playlist! 🙂

I like your new workout playlist! I would love to listen to this lovely music. Anyway, I incorporated yoga training to my weight loss program. Fortunately, I was able to control my food cravings unlike before. Right now, I feel like I’ve learned to control my inner strength. 😉

I love that song trick! I have a few songs that are close to 5 minutes and I know I’ve run over half a mile when it ends. It’s a really fun way to tick off miles.

This is awesome! Love the playlist! You’re so right, change is important for growth and success. A big change I’ve made in the past year with running is switching to mid-day or evening runs as opposed to first thing when I wake up running. I realized that although I love a good morning workout, I was so much more susceptible to injuries in the morning running before my body really warmed up.

People Like Us is one of my favorites right now!!!!

Do you or any of your readers want a 10 class core fusion class pass? I am selling it for $195. The first class needs to be used by 8/8, and then four months for the remaining class. It’s for nyc locations.

I think music is really important when running, there is no way I would last much more than 10 minutes without some good tunes on. I agree long songs are the best!
