{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}
I don’t run with music often, so I may not be the best judge of running music, but this has to be one of the best songs to run to ever!
I’m just not enjoying these long runs the way I enjoy other types of runs. I tucked my iPod into a pocket just in case I decided I couldn’t run any further. Around mile 15 I popped in my ear buds and blasted my emergency playlist. I can see this becoming a regular thing for me.
I could also see this being the last marathon I train for. I love half marathons, I enjoy speedwork, but I dread long runs.
Next Sunday I’m running another half marathon. I have no idea what’s going to happen since I’ve definitely slowed down a bit from my long runs. However, what I do know is that I’m leaving the island of Manhattan for two whole days!! (other than going to Governor’s Island and running over the Brooklyn Bridge twice, I haven’t left the island since May)
Say it, Do it!
- Philly 1/2 marathon (at race pace)
- Two medium runs
- One short shake-out run
- Two strength/core workouts
- One at home yoga practice
What’s your all time favorite running song? What workouts do you have planned for the week?

I admire you a LOT for running that far without any music. If I don’t have a friend to talk to, I at least listen to NPR podcasts if not mad dance music while running. The sound of my own labored breathing is too depressing! All time favorite running songs include: Ready, Steady, Go by Paul Oakenfold, Busy Child by Chemical Brothers, Stronger by Kelly Clarkson, and Lose Yourself by Eminem (this is my mile 11 song for half marathons).

Oh my gosh, I LOVE that song!! It might be my favorite Killers song and I’m a big fan of their music. I haven’t tried running to it, though. Will have to give it a try now!
I’m actually feeling similarly as I train for my first half-marathon. Going above 6 miles makes me seem to lose all enjoyability in the run. Hoping that feeling goes away before the half in October!!

I’m the opposite. I’m training for my 1st half and I have ZERO discipline for any speed work and absolutely LOVE my long runs (with music). I’ve always been more about distance than speed and that continues to remain. (Though after my half, I’m gonna buckle down and work on speed ’cause 14+ min/mile won’t cut it for long).

I’m so excited for a normal week at home- no work travel & no personal travels until Friday afternoon after my long run =)
Have fun in Philly- I love running that town! I did their RnR half last year & also done the full marathon. I’m signed up again for the full this fall (mostly b/c my BFF lives there). Here’s my re-cap http://www.clickthegoodnews.com/2011/10/07/philadelphia-rock-n-roll-half-marathon/ GOOD LUCK!

Good luck this weekend, Jess! You will rock it! 🙂 I love listening to Pitbull while running; he’ll always have a place in my runnerd heart. 😉 I have a couple brick workouts scheduled this week before next Saturday’s triathlon, and I’m ready it get after it!
