There are so many thoughts related to marathon training running around in my head right now I’m struggling to put them into words.
I will tell you that today, I realized how much I’ve changed over the past year or so. Several hours after my run I had a wild craving for pizza. After thinking about this craving and what pizza does to my body, I ate healthy leftovers instead. The craving went away believe it or not.
Also, Lora and I ran 15 miles at goal marathon pace today. She is a stellar running partner! I absolutely couldn’t have done it without her. Our marathon goal pace isn’t going to be easy to maintain, but I guess that’s the point of this whole thing, right? We hadn’t exactly planned on running this pace, but somehow deep down we both wanted it to happen and it did. It felt like we had something to prove.
There’s one more long run on my schedule and then the taper begins!!
Here are my planned workouts for the week:
- One 20-miler
- One tempo run
- One speed workout
- Two core/strength sessions
- Either one spin or one easy run
I can’t believe this is happening so soon!

How cool to see the banners going up all around town! I have a 21 mile run this weekend- officially the last long run of training, so excited! Hopefully it will be a bit cooler here & then it’s all downhill until November =)

You are going to ROCK the marathon. They won’t even see it coming. And the pizza cravings… seriously, I’ve got to get mine under control. You’re a champ just for conquering that beast.

Happy almost taper – you have So earned it!
If you’re already hitting your goal pace, you’re going to knock it out of the park come race day! Keep it up.
