Say it, Do it! {Confidence Builder}

{If you’re new to SIDI here’s some info: At the beginning of each week on FCITC “Say it, Do it” is a chance for us to commit to our workouts for the week by saying them out loud here and keeping each other accountable.}

Today’s run was the confidence boost I needed. I completed my longest long run since I ran the Chicago Marathon in 2004. At this point in training with ten weeks left to go it couldn’t have gone better.

I struggled with some negative thoughts early on in the run, but I refused to let them take control. Like last week, I also found the last 2 miles of the run to be a big challenge.

Though my body feels much better than it did while training last year, I’ve lacked confidence that I could make through long runs without ending up in pain. Today, I had almost zero pain! For the first time this year, I really felt like this goal of mine is going to come to fruition.

I hope this signals the end of my injury drama!

Say it, Do it! Week 9 of NYCM Training:

  • 1 Yoga practice
  • 2 Core Workouts
  • 2 Spins
  • 3 Runs (1 speed, 1 easy, 1 long)
  • 1 Day of Rest

    Nice job, Jess! I think I’ll do this route for my 18-miler. Was the path around the west side highway/battery park uninterrupted?

    My workouts:
    Mon: 7 miles
    Tue: 4 miles plus core workout
    Wed: SLT
    Thursday: physique 57
    Friday: 11 miles
    Sat: off
    Sun: physique 57

      It’s a great course! It’s scenic and pretty quiet. The path on the west side runs all the way north. I added in running around a few of the piers to get in some extra distance.

    Congrats, Jess! Glad you’re starting to feel stronger and more confident. Looks like a really scenic route also.
