#RunHappy Date

My favorite thing about Valentine’s Day might be the abundance of red and pink.  Well, that and anything with tiny hearts on it. Otherwise, it’s a holiday I could do without.

Something I couldn’t do without, nor live without is the support of my husband. At first glance our little two person family seems a little one dimensional.

We’re both fitness professionals. We both work for ourselves. We both walk to the beat of our own drum.

But we’re actually quite different from one another.

No, we don’t workout together on a regular or semi-regular basis. Our refrigerator isn’t just full of kale and protein powder. And no we don’t sit around at night and make up exercises for our clients to do, despite their beliefs.

This past Sunday when Rick asked if he could join me for a run, it actually felt like a date. He had taken a few days off from running due to a cold so he had planned to run four miles then head back home to let me finish up my seven miler. When we got to the point in the park where he was suppose to head back home, he decided to run the entire seven miles with me.

He’s gifted. He’s the kind of guy that even though he’s closer to forty then thirty, he can just go out and run seven miles despite the fact that he hasn’t ran that far since college (For what it’s worth, I’m completely envious of his natural running abilities).

The thing I love about run dates, is I’m doing the thing that I consider to be “mine” with the one I love. In my book a run date is the ultimate Valentine’s Day date.

    I adore those kicks. And yes, my husband and I workout together on occasion and it’s a blast. Wish we had the time to do it more often bc it’s great motivation.

    Those are ADORABLE matching shoes. My husband and I are the same way though, we love our workouts… But separately. We both do completely different things and only a handful of times in our relationship have we actually RAN together. This story just gives me all sorts of warm fuzzies

    That’s so cute! Ok, so I’m jealous. I remember one guy I dated and one of the best memories I have of him is running 15 miles together. It WAS like a date almost, it was so fun! Nick would never run with me, because he can’t because he has a rod in his leg (long story). He does, however, power walk with me, and I suppose that’s a good second best 🙂

    🙂 I’m glad you had a nice run with your man!

    As much as we’ve tried to fix it, my boyfriend and I just don’t run well together unless it’s a really long run (greater than 10 miles). During long runs, it’s really nice to have the company and we are well paced, however, on short runs he is SO MUCH FASTER than me that it just makes me mad.

    Too cute! My husband does not run at all but supports me in so many other ways.

    I may not like all the pink for Valentine’s Day but since it’s my birthday, I suffer through it. This year I was not in my beloved NYC but a sunny, 80 degree day when you can wear flipflops isn’t too shabby.

    I hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day! Looking forward to your Vine posts to help me get back to running shape.

    My husband loves cross fit and is just an occasional runner. I managed to get him to go on a 7 mile run for valentines day and it was a blast….his 10K split from the run ended up being a PR for him! I agree that running dates are a really great way to spend time with your significant other.
