Yesterday at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Bernard Lagat age 38, won the 5,000 meter race.
He also set his personal best for 2-miles on the track this past February, also at the age of 38.
Maybe his 1500 meter times wouldn’t be what they use to be, but he continues to show that you can work hard and achieve new things even if you’re past the age “they” say it’s not possible.
Anyhow, friends go out there and…
That must be the perfect age. What a conincidence that I was also bron in 1975. Yup, 38 baby!
Yay! There’s still hope!! 🙂
Yep, this 47-yr. old loves to see that! It DOES get harder, but where there’s a will there’s a way!
So true – I’m running better at 43 than I did as a college athlete!
I’ve known a lot of athletes who are in their early 40’s who could still outrun younger opponents. IMO, what matters most in the realm of any sports is not just the age but the kind of strength and conditioning workout. Also, the discipline of the athlete is the greatest source of power and strength. 😉
Hey Jess,
I just started reading your blog today. I’m finding it very interesting! I’m writing an e-book of my own this summer about working out, and you will definitely be mentioned! Thank you for all of your motivational and helpful information!
I agree with this article. I believe that getting older is not a hindrance for us to achieve what younger people can easily do. Even an old man can climb the Mount Everest. Why can’t we? We’re still younger than him?
