Say it, Do it! {where marathon & hurricane prep collide}

If feelings of antsy-ness and being on edge indicate one is tapering correctly, then I’m doing something right. Since most of my mileage for the week was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday it meant the majority of the week I wasn’t myself.

While prepping for a hurricane isn’t an ideal situation at any point in life, if this storm hits I’m forced to sit at home and prop my feet up until it passes. For once there’s a shutdown situation in NYC and I’m not in the least bit worried about missing a workout.

Marathon Prep = Running ten miles at close to marathon goal pace with these ladies on Saturday.

Running this course a second time really helped boost my confidence. After running it last week I was left feeling unsure, but this week I knew what to expect.

The hill up Fifth Avenue from around 110-90th Street didn’t seem quite so bad and now I know what to expect on Sunday.

Running so much of the course in training is helping me feel like I’ve prepared the best I can for this race.

Then today I ran the Poland Spring Marathon Kickoff run with Dori and Ashley, which was tons of fun!

Hurricane Prep = Stocking up on essentials though it looks like we could have just hung out at the neighborhood bar instead.

On this week’s workout agenda:

  • Foam roll
  • PT Stretches
  • Easy intervals
  • Easy run with strides
  • Shake out Run
  • New York City Marathon

Be safe out there! I’m off to play Frankenstorm Bingo.

I’m so excited for marathon week! This morning it’s looking like the hurricane is going in closer to Philly & hopefully won’t cause any widespread or long-lasting damage to NYC. I’m just keeping an eye on the weather- hopefully the rain will be moved out by then.

    You stay safe!!

And how cute is that race pic! Dang, I look like a hot mess most of the time.

You stay focused and don’t let this hurricane blow you off track!

I think I actually saw you guys during the Poland Spring (Ashley’s bun was a giveaway) but I wasn’t sure at the time so I didn’t say hi. Hope you girls had a great race!! Good luck during marathon prep week 🙂
