Project Runaroni {Giveaway}

The assignment: Make a recipe using Runaroni.

I’m pretty sure what I made with my bag of Runaroni is a little outside the box. It probably isn’t what the fine people of Brooks had in mind when they gave me the challenge.

But I have a confession to make.

I realize some of you may think differently of me after I tell you, but I’m willing to take the consequences.

I don’t really enjoy pasta. It is not my carbohydrate of choice.

I know, I know… but I’m a runner. Well, I’m a runner that thinks outside of the pasta box.

It’s not that I dislike pasta, it’s just that it’s a food I could live without.

Anyhow, back to the assignment.

When the pasta arrived at my doorstep I instantly knew I wanted to make a craft project. I guess the holiday season makes me nostalgic or something because I’m pretty sure every three year old makes holiday pasta art in preschool class.

This is not what I made:

Instead I made this:

If you want to make you’re own noodle snowflake here’s what I did:

Step 1: construct a snowflake like figure out of noodles.

Step 2: glue them together and let them dry.

Step 3: paint with white paint and let dry (I repeated this process twice)

Step 4: paint with gliter paint and let dry (I repeated this process once)

Step 5: tie a ribbon around the strongest part of the snowflake and hang

And if you would like to WIN your own bag of Runaroni pasta leave a comment below telling me how you really feel about pasta and carb loading or what you would make with your Runaroni pasta.

You have until Monday, December 10th at 12:00 EST to enter the contest.

Disclosure: I am a Run Happy Ambassador for Brooks Running for which I receive compensation.

****This giveaway has ended. Amber is the winner of the Runaroni Pasta!

I love pasta. All pasta. Even pasta related items like gnocci and Israeli couscous.
And what would I make? I would make my belly happy is what I would make with them.

I love pasta. I probably eat pasta 5 times a week in various forms. Sometimes I think I only run to justify my pasta habit. BUT if I won the runaroni pasta I would probably make exactly what you did and hang it on my tree. So cute!!

I love pasta! But I try to limit my consumption and throw in extra veggies when I do eat it!

This is ADORABLE, Jess! You are so crafty.

How about we make running tiaras for our next respective races? 🙂 http://www.parents.com/fun/arts-crafts/kid/pasta-crafts/

These are crazy fun! I am actually not that into pasta, either, but these would be a lot of fun to cook for my family over the holidays (I recently got my sister and dad into running and my mom into fast-walking!). If I were to carb load without thinking about performance, just pure carbs, my item of choice would definitely be tortilla chips. I can decimate a bag of those if I’m not careful!

I love pasta and I probably have it at least once a week, but not usually the night before a race. Don’t know why, but I just never got into the whole pasta the night before a race thing. Mac and cheese is one of my favorite foods, so that is what I would make with Runaroni.

I’m Italian so I love pasta but I try to eat it in moderation. I’ve also been trying about a bunch of new recipes with healthy sauces and different veggies! I do use it to carboload before a race though!

Haha! You are way too creative for me. But I’d like to win some Runaroni so I can cook it and stir it up with lots of butter, salt and pepper. Yum! (Also love the BQ you made!)

I love pastas, macaroni & cheese is pretty much my weakness. I have always loved it as a kid and into an adult. Pasta always feels me up. But as I have grown up, I have tweaked most of my pasta dishes to be more healthy.
I love this runaroni, so fun!

Pasta with veggies is the best, especially for carb loading before a big race. Runaroni pasta would be even better for getting into race mode. I would make it with some homemade tomato sauce and save some of the noodles for a cool craft (these are too cute to eat all of)

SO cute!! Love your snowflakes 🙂

I do like pasta a lot, but it takes a lot of it to be filling, I think, unless it’s whole wheat. (I guess the fiber makes all the difference for me?)

My body has been broken since September, so I haven’t raced since then (and it was just a mile!). I really really miss road races in CP and half marathons and, frankly, pain-free runs of over 4 miles. If I won runaroni (also, cutest name ever!), I would save it until my next long race. It would be such a great reward to look forward to once I’m back on track!

I love pasta! I eat it sparingly now but mac and cheese is my favorite thing to make. I don’t usually eat pasta the night before races anymore – I used to, now I eat it two nights before a race.

Pasta is the best! It’s one of my favorite meals. If I won this I would save it and eat it in most of my meals the week before my first post-injury race. It’s sure to give me good juju!

and i’d give this pasta to my dailymile secret santa!

I’m a fan of pasta and all things carbs–so any reason to indulge is a-ok in my book! I’m not sure it works, but I’ve stuck with lasagna and garlic bread as my pre-race meal the last 3 races I’ve run and some sort of pasta the night before my others – and I’ve never had any stomach issues.

I’m a huge fan of pasta…so carbo loading (within reason) is a happy time for me =) But it’s a fine line between eating the right amount of feeling too weighed down on race day…
    LOVE the snowflake =)

First, I love your noodle snowflake!

I love pasta, but eat it in limited doses.

The problem with carb loading is that most people don’t really understand how to do it or how it works, as there is some science behind it.

I like the idea of expanding the use of pasta to the crafts realm!

I’d make a pasta caserole for my next running themed party. 1 Month overdue post on said running themed party to come, but suffice it to say that menu items included SHOESTRING sweet potato fries, COCONUT WATER w/ malibu rum, Rum RUNNERS, and a carbo-loading station with three types of pasta. Clearly Runaroni would have trumped them all.

I’m not a big pasta person either…but if it comes in the shape of running shoes and running figures, I’ve got to at least try it 🙂

    Loving your snowflake, very creative!
