Peak Performance Analysis (Giveaway NYC only)

It’s no secret, I credit Finish Line Physical therapy with getting me through 2012 and enabling me to continue to do the things I love, especially running. Before going to FLPT, I had been going to some pretty great therapists, but they weren’t overly familiar with runners or athletes. They helped me tremendously, but weren’t able to get my hamstring back on track with functioning.

I still have some lingering issues, but they are much more manageable and know just where to go when they start to plague me.

You may remember Mike agreed to do a video series with me last summer.

Not once was I told not to run or to give up at any other type of exercise aside from the ones that obviously made my issues worse. Additionally, I’ve gotten great advice when needed and truly wish I could just hang out at FLPT on a regular basis.

Finish Line PT doesn’t just work with injured runners. They can also help non-injured runners identify weaknesses that could potentially lead to injury. All runners can benefit from a Peak Performance Analysis at FLPT.

And that leads us to today’s giveaway.

Enter to win a Finish Line Physical Therapy Gift Card (valued at $300) for a Peak Performance Analysis!

This gift card can be used for any one of the following services:

  • Functional Movement Analysis: A great preventative tool appropriate for anyone.
  • Running Gait Analysis: Optojump technology captures your precise movements, giving an extremely accurate picture of all aspects of your stride.(read about my optojump experience here)
  • Injury Assessment: An assessment of the potential source of the injury as opposed to solely considering the symptoms.
  • ASTYM Session: (I swear this is the treatment that saved my running in 2012) An innovative rehabilitation technique that helps resolve chronic injuries at the root of the problem so you can return to full functional movement.
  • Performance Baseline Screening: Not necessarily an injury assessment but rather a preventative measure to help a person identify potential limitations so they can strengthen those areas.

To Enter: Leave a comment telling me which service you’d most like to try at FLPT and follow me on instagram (if you aren’t already).

A winner will be chosen on Tuesday, January 15th and announced here on this post.

I was not compensated for this post.

UPDATED: I’m so far behind on this it isn’t even funny! So here’s the deal….

EVERYONE that responded can get a free analysis. Please email me with your mailing address asap!

If I lived in NYC I would definitely be interested in the running gait. I am as pigeon toed as you can get : P So learning how to NOT run that way would be awesome. If I think about it I can normally auto correct but sometimes I end up with shin splints because of it. LAME.

Fun Fact – when I was a kid my dr told my parents to throw me in roller blades and make me use them every day in the garage and to skate around wooden horses (woodworking table things) because you can’t skate pigeon toed, your feet will run into each other. It was supposed to fix it, FAIL.

Wow, the Running Gait Analysis, Functional movement Analysis, and Performance Baseline Screening all sound amazing! I’ve always just focused on racing shorter distances, but as I’ve just begun to train for my first marathon, any of those services would be so huge for me.

I’d love to try the ASTYM treatment. I battled injuries in the last 3 months of 2012 and had the longest break from running since I began. It was horrible πŸ™ I’ve recovered and I’m back to putting in the miles, but I’ve noticed (despite some strengthening exercises I’ve been doing 4x a week) some ITB discomfort the past couple days, when I hit over 7 miles. This is really frustrating since I am itching to get back into peak shape and have some good races this winter/spring. PT would obviously be the answer to solve the root problem (and people have recommended FLPT to me before!), but alas it is $$$. Being a student in NYC means I don’t have a ton of that to throw around, which is why I’ve been trying self-treatment instead… hm.

All of these programs sound amazing. I think where I’m at right now I’d love to try the Performance Baseline Screening. Since I’m going to be increasing my running this year, I’d love to get in front of potential injuries. It’s so great to know there’s a place that is so positive and wanted to help you maintain your running as much as possible. So many PTs are so fast to just blanket with a “stop running and that will fix it”. Finish Line will definitely be my first choice!

I would love the Performance Baseline Screening. I have been running for a year and have been fortunate to injury-free. But it is something I worry about and would like to know what weakness/potentials so that way I can tweak what I do now to continue to be injury free. I already follow you on instagram! πŸ™‚

Ahhh this is tough! I’d say functional movement analysis so I can make sure all of my muscle groups are working/moving correctly…and maybe get to the root of why my shin splints never go away!

This is an awesome giveaway I’ll be jealous of the winner πŸ˜‰
