Chocolate-Covered Cherry Smoothie

It's officially smoothie season! Smoothies are a great meal, snack or post long run recovery drink. While this one isn't high enough in protein to be a recovery drink, it's still full of healthy ingredients. It includes every runner's favorite food in the post Born To Run era, chia seeds. And every pms-ing woman's favorite food chocolate (in the form of cacao). It's a chocolate-covered cherry … [Read more...] about Chocolate-Covered Cherry Smoothie

A Few Things I Didn’t Tell You About RTB Relay

Admittedly, my race recaps aren't overwhelmingly interesting. In an effort to keep things short and sweet, I find I leave out some of the juicier parts of the race. For example a key challenge during Reach the Beach Relay was that up until a week and a half before the race, I was only scheduled to complete 10 miles. Melissa of Fitness NYC Me Van 2: Anne of … [Read more...] about Reach the Beach Relay: Van 1, Runner #2

It’s Relay Day!

Three running outfits for one race can only mean one thing... right now I'm either sitting in a van waiting my turn to run or running one of my three legs as a part of Team Off Balance at the New Balance Reach the Beach Relay. Sitting here writing this at 12:50a.m. on Thursday morning, I'll admit I'm a little nervous for my 17.5 miles. What have I gotten myself into this time? Hopefully, some … [Read more...] about It’s Relay Day!

Breaking Race Day Rules

I broke a race day rule and lived to run a p.r. on a challenging half marathon course. So, maybe the pr was only by a few hundreds of a second, but it still counts! The "big rule" I broke: Don't try anything new on race day. See that water bottle in my hand in the awkward photo above? I hadn't ran with one prior to race day. It was also my first time drinking nuun during a run. Running with … [Read more...] about Breaking Race Day Rules
