My Thoughts on NYCM after the Hurricane

If the New York City Marathon is cancelled, I won't be disappointed one bit. I'm torn about the whole situation. Part of me feels it's ridiculous to even be thinking about running 26.2 miles just a few days after NYC was devastated by hurricane Sandy. There are people with needs and a city that requires immediate love and attention. The other part of me knows that this is a city that prides … [Read more...] about My Thoughts on NYCM after the Hurricane

Say it, Do it! {where marathon & hurricane prep collide}

If feelings of antsy-ness and being on edge indicate one is tapering correctly, then I'm doing something right. Since most of my mileage for the week was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday it meant the majority of the week I wasn't myself. While prepping for a hurricane isn't an ideal situation at any point in life, if this storm hits I'm forced to sit at home and prop my feet up until it passes. … [Read more...] about Say it, Do it! {where marathon & hurricane prep collide}

After running my hardest speed workout of the training cycle on Wednesday night, I could feel every single incline on the course. I could also sense that my hardest training runs (10x400s and a 22-miler) had taken it's … [Read more...] about Say it, Do it! {Too fast for a taper}

Welcome to Taper Town

It's been eight years since I've trained for a marathon and nine years since I last ran the New York City Marathon. I don't have to tell you the obvious thing; a lot changes in nine years. Overall my approach to running has changed significantly. Back then I ran to run. I was sorting out all sorts of personal issues and running was what I did to manage. It was the piece of my life where I sought … [Read more...] about Welcome to Taper Town
